On Saturday November 1st, Del Mar Thoroughbred Club will host the $2,000,000 FanDuel Breeders’ Cup Mile. The Breeders’ Cup Mile is a 1-mile (1.6 km) Grade 1 Weight for Age stakes race for thoroughbred racehorses three years old and up, run on a grass course. It has been conducted annually as part of the Breeders’ Cup World Championships since the event’s inception in 1984.
The world’s top grass milers compete in the FanDuel Breeders’ Cup Mile presented by Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund (PDJF), contested around two turns on the turf course for a purse of $2 million. Open to male and female horses three-years old and older, the Mile is a demanding race favoring horses quick out of the gate and securing a strong position for the stretch drive to the wire.
