On Saturday November 1st, Del Mar Thoroughbred Club will host the $5,000,000 Longines Breeders’ Cup Turf. The Breeders’ Cup Turf is a Weight for Age Thoroughbred horse race on turf for three-year-olds and up. It is held annually at a different racetrack in the United States or Canada as part of the Breeders’ Cup World Championships. The race is run at the European Classic distance of 1+1⁄2 miles, making it one of the most internationally appealing races on the Breeders’ Cup lineup.
The Longines Breeders’ Cup Turf is run at 1 ½ miles on the turf course, for male and female horses three-years-old and older. The longest race of the World Championships, the Turf annually attracts the top grass talent from Europe and North America to compete for a $5 million purse in a demanding test of both speed and strength. The Breeders’ Cup Turf is limited to 14 starters.
