November 1st 2025 The Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic at Del Mar Thoroughbred Club

On Saturday November 1st, Del Mar Thoroughbred Club will host the $7,000,000 Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic. The Breeders’ Cup Classic is a Grade I Weight for Age thoroughbred horse race for 3-year-olds and older run at a distance of 1+14 miles on dirt. It is held annually at a different racetrack in the United States as part of the Breeders’ Cup World Championships in late October or early November.

Every sport has a definitive year-ending event to crown its champions. In Thoroughbred racing, the Breeders’ Cup World Championships is the culmination of the horse racing season worldwide, and the $7 million Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic is the defining race of this international event. The Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic, run at 1 1/4 miles on the dirt track, draws the top international Thoroughbreds, including winners of the Triple Crown races, year after year. It is open to male and female horses three-years old and older, and is limited to 14 starters.
